For those of you that remember the Ovation repair, burned top fiasco I had earlier this year and the subsequent new build order I got out of the whole ordeal. Well it is about ready to go to the spray booth

Sorry for the low quality pictures. I had to do them with a throw away camera, since Diane left the digital in Nebraska somewhere

Thats a beaut Michael and that bearclaw is real nice. I notice a unique heel cap as well. Is this a first for this style? I'm sure the ovation player will be extremely happy to finally get a real guitar.

What'cha got there Michael, is that Black Acaicia?
It sure looks nice. Your guy should be a happy camper when he gets that.

Yep got from DonW almost a year ago
RW binding, BWB back perf, BWB-paua-BWB top perf. the bridge is on there with tape for the photo.

The mother of invention caused the heal cap. Don't ask I will tell, a bores channel that did not show till final sanding. I did not feel like routing out the center stripe and rebinding the back. customer is aware and approved the heal cap.

Great job Michael Payne, very stately, nearly ready for strumming, eh? I like it. Tell us how it sounds when you string it up. Pretty woods.

Michael, looks great, I'm envious of you guys that can continue to kick them out like you do! It takes me so long to do just one, and the close to the end I get the slower if go

Great looking top! Is the back and sides sealed yet? If so what did you use?

That's sure some pretty bearclaw! The acacia isn't bad either. I'm just now buffing out an acacia/englemann OM myself. Looks good so far.

BTW, I do have an old Ovation laying around here some where. I'd be happy to trade it in for one of yours.

I told you when you shipped it to me that I looked more like 4A or 5A than 3A I am not sure why it got graded down, but NO you can't have it back MichaelP38580.4016319444

Lance, you can't possible be envious of me. Your work is super, and I know your more prolific than I am. As far as cranking them out, this is only the second commission build and third total build this year. Weather has slowed me down. Yea right, three or four a year has been typical for some time now.

Speaking of weather we have had seven straight days of rain here in Odessa. mostly at night I have gotten over 9" in the past 10 days. I think I might have to consider humidity control now that we are coming out of the ten year drought.

Michael,

Beautiful guitar! Sure don't look like no Ovation I've ever seen either...

One of these days, I'll just have to paddle over and visit!

We just got about .001" of rain last night or early this morning. Where did that come from?
